A New Very Very Very Short Story - A New Adventure

A/N Nobody ever really answer to my pleas for a review but maybe this time someone does? ;)

A New Adventure
When you look up at the sky, what do you see?
Do you stories of the past, present and future in the fluffy white clouds on a warm summers day? Perhaps you see the heavens twinkling down at you on a cold winters night.
Me? I see new and unexplored worlds. These worlds all have life, new opportunities and adventures that are just waiting to be taken.
It is said that when you are finished with this life you go to heaven or hell. It all depends what you believe in. Some scoff at the very idea of heaven and hell existing, while others love the idea of heaven and will do everything they can to avoid making a one way trip to hell.
Personally I believe there is simply a door that I will need to open and step through in order to start my next life, on a star that is at the moment twinkling up in the night sky.
As I stretch out on the freshly cut and dewey grass looking up at the stars, I take a moment to think about my life and I find I'm pleased with how I've lived it. There have been many smiles, tears, heartbreaks and loves but those are stories for another time.
My gaze focuses on the stars again and I realize my time in this world has reached its end.
The last thing to cross my mind is “I wonder which star I will be on next” and with that thought I take my final breath and drift away into the darkness.
Through the darkness I make out a door. I'm not floating or walking but somehow I make my way to it.
Taking a deep breath I twist the knob and open it, taking a step into a blinding light. Into my new adventure.

Is there anybody still looking at this?

Hello? Is there anybody out there? Lol

It's been a while since I've posted but I'm back for a while now :)

So much to do and so little time! Brothers 18th, study, shopping, reading, chores and reading.

And did I mention that it's bloody freezing here? Well I think it is but others might not, like my little brother for example :)

Ah well not much to complain about. Had a good night tonight. A yummy dinner of roast beef, potatoes, pumpkin and carrots. Dessert was a yummy chocolate soufflé with a tiny bit of vanilla ice cream. Perfect rainy, cold winter weather food :)

Now time to curl up for a while and post a few things *winks*

Look what I just did!

Check out my nails!

What do you think? Polkadots rule and never go out of style :) This took me about 45 minutes and that included having to redo a nail and drying.

If you would like to do this follow the easy steps below :)

You will need:

  • Nail polish
  • Nail polish remover (you might just need it)
  • Tooth picks
  • Nail polish
  • Scissors
  • Nail file
  • Flat surface and good lighting

1. Clean nails, top and underneath too

2. File away any sharp pieces and shape as desired

3. Apply a base coast of your choice - Mine was clear

4. Choose what colour/s you would like

5. Put toothpick in nail polish pot until the tip is nicely covered

6. Now have fun putting on your polkadots! :) Just put the toothpick to your nail gently or add pressure and more nail polish for bigger dots.

NOT necessary but if desired add a top coat of clear polish.

And remember be CREATIVE AND HAVE FUN :)

My first time doing Yoga

I did Yoga for the very first time last night.

I have always started a video and then 2 minutes in I would quit or I'd be falling over myself trying to get the poses right.

So last night I stumbled across a video called 'Basic Yoga Workout for Dummies' and thought "OK I'm going to actually complete this video, I can do it!"

1 hour later I had completed and actually enjoyed it. I was and still am quite proud of myself :) and I didn't fall over once lol

If you're as reluctant as I was then watch it and see if you can do it too. I felt great and nicely stretched afterwards so it was well worth it.

Kitten D'Amour

Have you ever heard of Kitten D'Amour? Click on the name and it'll take you there :)

Its a shop that makes amazing vintage inspired clothing. Everything is unique as there is only a set amount of each item made. They have collections, each different and very beautiful. Click here to view them and perhaps find something you've always wanted. They cater to all sizes from the petite to curvaceous there is something for everybody.

I first walked into the shop as a curvaceous girl and was afraid I was going to get shunned due to my size as it has happened to me before at other stores. However I was welcomed with open arms and smiles from everybody. It made me feel comfortable and encouraged me to actually look at the clothing and not glance over my shoulder and quickly leave because the sales ladies were eyeing me. It doesn't matter to the girls what size you are, you are all treated equally. Also something to note is that if you have big feet (like me) don't worry they go all the way up to a size 12 :)

The stores themselves are unique. The decor, atmosphere and display of the merchandise is amazing and lovely. The serving ladies even wear the the clothing and are fully made up. Clothing, shoes, makeup and hair. They look really beautiful.

I got this dress last month from my parents for my birthday. I just have to wait till mid May now. I can't WAIT to wear it!!

So what are you waiting for? Go check it out!

Movie Recommendation - The Host

Hi All,

I have a movie recommendation for you :) Most of you have probably already seen it but for those of you who haven't......

Movie: The Host
Actors: Saoirse Ronan (Melanie Stryder/Wanderer), Max Irons (Jared Howe), Jake Abel (Ian O'Shea) and Diane Kruger (The Seeker)
Rating: *****

I finally saw The Host and I loved it!

I think they chose the perfect actors for all the characters. They just portrayed them so well.
The setting of the movie was great, just like how I imagined it when reading the book. I loved how they made the fields of wheat etc.

The movie really stuck to the book this time. Only a few things missing but it wasn't disappointing because it would have dragged it out far to long. I'm not going to say what was missing because I don't want to be a spoil sport and I hate reading spoilers at times myself and really they weren't any major points just very minor ones.

Now the way that the souls are portrayed is just beautiful. It really looks pure, innocent and fragile. I thought that they would be made to look a bit like a centipede how ever this is what they ended up as

See what I mean by Beautiful?

My dad and brother were really not sure about this as they really don't like twilight and were afraid it would be another one. However at the end of the movie they both agreed that it was a great movie with a different outlook on what they likened to body snatchers. It was nice to see them kind and peaceful as opposed to violent and nasty.

My dad said he didn't see what was so wrong with the world when the souls had taken over. It was a peaceful place to live, they didn't kill each other, you could walk on the streets safely without fear of being attacked, there is no such thing as greed and the trust that they have in each other is amazing. I personally think he made a great point.

It was everything I hoped it would be and more. I definitely recommend watching  this.

Just something a little random.  I was just wondering who's seen The Host movie already?

See I haven't and its another movie still on my 'To Watch List' lol

I just HOPE that they stuck to the book and didn't cut pieces out. I also hope that it hasn't been turned into a second twilight. Don't get me wrong, I loved Twilight as much as the next teen girl but I do believe I've outgrown it :)

A present for me?

Look what I got from my sweet Lil Bro :)

I'm so lucky I know.....and spoilt because I also got a pair of earrings from Lovisa that I'd been eyeing for a few weeks and its not even my Birthday lol!

I'm going to hopefully find a bit of time to start this book soon. It just sounds so intriguing. Below is the blurb :)

Seventeen-year-old Ismae escapes from the brutality of an arranged marriage into the sanctuary of the convent of St. Mortain, where the sisters still serve the gods of old. Here she learns that the god of Death Himself has blessed her with dangerous gifts—and a violent destiny. If she chooses to stay at the convent, she will be trained as an assassin and serve as a handmaiden to Death. To claim her new life, she must destroy the lives of others.

Ismae’s most important assignment takes her straight into the high court of Brittany—where she finds herself woefully under prepared—not only for the deadly games of intrigue and treason, but for the impossible choices she must make. For how can she deliver Death’s vengeance upon a target who, against her will, has stolen her heart?

What caught my attention was not only the blurb but also the cover. It looks mysterious with a touch of danger, a perfect combination in my eyes ;)

Question: Have you read this? Opinion?

Warm Bodies released in Australia on the 11/04/2013! Looking forward to it :)

I for one cannot WAIT until 11/04/2013 which is when 'Warm Bodies' is released in the cinema. I'm planning to see it ASAP. I really wanted to read the book first but unfortunately I can't get a hold of it at the moment, bought or borrowed :'(

It looks so interesting and I've never actually come across a plot like this before so its a totally new thing for me. I know that it could be kind of corny in regards to the romance part but still, it has the potential to be pretty good. The idea of a zombie coming back to life and falling in love in the process really appeals to me. Must be because I'm a sucker for romance stories with a twist lol

Zombies.....you gotta love 'em :)

Have you seen it or read the book? Drop a comment below on what you thought of it :)

Until next time, SHUFFLE LIKE A ZOMBIE! ;) (I'm weird, I know lol)

March/April so far :)

Hi guys!

I know its been a while since I last posted something so here's a little of what I've been up to this March/April :)

1. I went shopping the other day and FINALLY bought the boots that I really wanted. When we rocked up at the shop I was so scared that they wouldn't have my size and sure enough I couldn't find a pair :'( and the low and behold a pair in my size hiding at the very back! Well they were claimed and bought just a fast as you can snap your fingers.

2. A dream came true - the shopping centre half and hour away from me got the bookstore 'Allbooks4less'. If you're an Aussie and a reader you'll know why this shop is brilliant. For those of you that don't it means bargin books :) hardcovers and soft covers that you can pay as little as $2.50, most books are $5. Now I was already so happy with this when I went to a plaza and found that they also have one now, and it's huge!! I do believe I was in heaven on those days.....

3. Studying, studying and more studying takes a lot of time too. It's going well in case you're wondering ;)

4. I started a new exercise routine. This means I'm now getting up extra early 3 days a week :p it's not something I thought I'd enjoy however I have come to look forward to these days. Crazy I know lol I do have the occasional day that I absolutely loath the exercise that's making me get out of my nice warm bed, but I think we all have a few days like that that with something ;)

5. Got hair cut and coloured! It's short, like really short :o lol and I'm now a red head. It's a very deep red, bit like red wine, I quite like it. A new look for a new season ;)

6. Brrrrrr! It's getting cold outside now. Which means I can start bringing out the winter wardrobe....YAY! I can now fit so many things after my dramatic 2012 weight loss journey :) and I discovered a whole bunch of clothing in my wardrobe when I did a clean up that is actually pretty funky now that it fits properly. Now let me tell you, that clean up was horrible I swear I thought I'd die! When I opened my wardrobe I had to quickly take two steps back or it would have been squished by clothing pile. Death by clothing wasn't very appealing lol!

7. And read....of course! Mainly Harry Potter fanfiction. The latest was based in a zombie world and was absolutely brilliant :)

So there you have it, my major points of the last month and this month so far :)

New favorites in my playlist,

1. Black Horse and a Cherry Tree  - KT Tunstall
2. Two flavors  - Eduardo Molinero (LOVE this one, found it in a HP Fanfic)
3. Wings  - Little Mix
4. Have you ever  - Brandi Charlie
5. Let her go  - Passenger
6. Run this town  - Jay-z ft Kanye and Rihanna
7. Snake eyes  - Feint ft CoMa
8. Sing for Absolution  - Muse
9. Get loose  - Sohanny ft Vein
10. Live my life  - Far East Movement ft (:p no offence to Bieber lovers, I just don't like him) Justin Bieber

Well time for me to go folks bed time, so for now over and out <3

Short Story: To be a Star

A/N I was in a strange mood lol

To be a Star
When someone says "I want to be a star", you would think they mean fame, and fortune.
I knew a boy who said that to me once. And I assumed that, that was what he meant.
I was wrong.
It was a cold winters day and we were taking a walk throughout the forest. As we walked he took my hand in his and gently lead me into the clearing a few meters ahead. We sat down in the grass and snow, and still he held my hand.
Sitting in silence for a long time we just enjoyed each others company and the peace and quiet surrounding us.
After a while he turned to me, smiled and said "Do you remember when I said to you I want to be a star?"
"Yes", I replied wondering where he was going with this.
He took a deep breath and continued "I want to shine the brightest in the sky, so you'll know its me. I want to be able to watch over you forever." I sat quietly all the while wondering why he was saying this.   He must have seen my confusion so he explained.
He had cancer and had only a few months left to live. He hadn't told me any sooner because he just wanted to live as normally as possible.  I wrapped my arms around him and held on tightly.
We both wept in sadness and anger for future that wouldn't be ours and then we also wept in happiness for the time that we had been given to live, love and enjoy each other. We lived and loved in those few months that many people only dream about.
His time came in a hospital bed 8 months later. I loved him so much and didn't want to let him go, unfortunately it was not up to me to decide.
It was a Friday in the late afternoon when he turned to me, smiled and said "It is time for me to go my love, look for me in the night sky, I'll be the star burning the brightest. I'll always be watching you and I love you so very much, never forget that". He gave me such a beautiful smile.
I leaned down and gave him one last kiss, filled with as much love as I could. As I straightened, he drew his last breath and left this world.
That night as I walked the path to our cottage near the cliff edge, I looked up at the sky.  I started to laugh and weep. Then with tears running down my face I whispered, " You got what you wanted my love," for there above me was a star that had never been there before.
It was the brightest of them all and as it twinkled at me, I just knew it was him.

Short Story: Spring brings new life everywhere

A/n Here is the first short story that I promised :) This little one popped up when I looked outside at a pregnant friend in, you guessed it, Spring. Hope to hear what you think of it - TheDreamer

Spring brings new life everywhere
April sat on a park bench, her eyes closed and a smile on her face that made her lips gently curve.
As she opened her eyes she inhaled deeply and could smell spring in the air.
She could smell the grass that had just been cut, the slightly rotting foliage underneath the trees and the fragrant flowers that were scattered throughout the park.
She looked around and could see the signs of spring everywhere.
There was the sun that shone brightly and warmed her skin gently. The slightly cool breeze in the warm air. Then there were the flowers that were blooming and full of colour filling the air with their sweet scent and the bees buzzing in between them. Birds were chirping and people, parents, grandparents and children were all either running around laughing and playing or settling down for a picnic.
April loved spring because of all these things and the new life it brought.   The ducks in the pond with their ducklings following them. The chicks in the nest chirping as their parents flew back to feed them and the new sprouts of flowers and trees that had yet to grow.
But most of all she loved the new life that this spring  was going to give her and her husband. She put a hand on her rounded belly and felt her unborn son gently kick against it. She turned and smiled at her husband while lacing the fingers of her other hand through his.
As he pulled her close and enfolded her in his arms, she let out a happy little sigh and settled against him thinking, 'spring brings new life everywhere'.

I'm back, bearing pictures ;)

Book Recommendation - Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

Good afternoon :)

I have a book recommendation for you. I stumbled across, bought this book and finally read it on holiday 2 weeks ago.

What I expected: A haunted story full of danger and horror.

What I got: A fantasy/adventure/humour/romance story.

Rating: ****

About

The story follows Jacob Portman on the adventure of his life.

When he was little his grandfather used to regal him with stories of his childhood on a island. These included monsters and orphaned children with peculiar abilities, he would even show Jacob pictures of the orphans. As Jacob got older he lost belief in these stories and his grandfather stopped sharing them.

However one evening he gets a frantic call from his grandfather, telling him that the monsters have found him and that he needs to protect himself. Jacob rushes to his grandfathers house only to find it empty and looking as though a mountain cat has slashed through the door.

He finds his grandfather dying in the woods out back from wounds that look as though he has been mauled.

His grandfathers last cryptic words and a letter from a Miss Peregrine urge Jacob to find out if any of it was true. Determined, he sets out to find the island that his grandfather grew up on and find the answers to the many questions that he has.

Last comment

This book is gripping and exciting. It had me reading throughout the night and day.  The book also contains photos of children, the photos that Jacobs grandfather showed him! what is amazing is that these photos have been carefully selected and collected over the years from garage sales and the such by people dedicated to this book. The only thing that I would have liked was if the the other characters (the other children) had a bit more of a role in the story and more background information. Some people might have a bit of trouble with the relationship between Jacob and Emma because of the age difference but it didn't really bother me because in my eyes the romance is barely there. In my opinion this is one awesome read full of adventure, intrigue, humor and the teeniest, tiniest bit of romance.

This book is gripping and exciting. It will have you reading throughout the night and/or day, which is what I ended up doing lol. It also contains amazing photos of children, the photos that Jacobs grandfather showed him! what is amazing is that these photos have been carefully selected and collected over the years from garage sales and the such by people dedicated to this book.

Give it a go and if you have already read it, leave a comment on your opinion :)

Short Story: Fear - A Nightmare

A/n Here is the first story I ever wrote. It is actually based on a nightmare of mine hence the title :) I just had to get it out and since typing it out I haven't had this nightmare again. It helps to get things out of your head.....Now on with the story and let me know what you think - TheDreamer

Fear - A Nightmare

Fear, it is the emotion that gives us the ability to do things we usually wouldn't do or wouldn't be able to do.

For example it gives the weakest human the ability to lift a car. The gentlest human the ability to fight and defend itself violently and without a second thought. It also gives a human the ability to run the fastest it's ever run.

That's what I'm doing now, running for my life. Don't ask from whom, because I don't know. All I know is that IT is pure evil and if I let IT catch me my life is over.

I'm in the forest and I don't really know how I got here but I barely spare a thought for this fact.

Branches rip and tear at my skin, my clothes and my hair as I run and stumble through the foliage. The afternoon air is so cold it makes my lungs burn and my breath comes out in little white puffs.

Thump thump thump.

IT's gaining on me, I think fearfully so I pick up my pace, pushing my legs to carry my body even faster.

Up ahead I can see that the trees are thinning and give a sob of relief.

Somebody will surely be there to help me, save me, protect me from the evil that's chasing me. I take a look behind me and see IT moving faster and faster. I can hear IT breathing. ITs feet pounding the dirt as it runs. I can not however see ITs face.

I wish I knew why IT felt the need to chase me and catch me just to destroy me.

Through all this I am still running and when I look in front of me again I skid to an abrupt stop.

A cliff. A cliff is beyond that thinning of trees, not help, not protection and not a savior. Tears cascade down my cheeks as I look out over the wild ocean.

The water smashes against the rocks below me. The wind whips my hair around my face and tugs viciously at my clothes. Stormy clouds cover the sky and the sun. There is no warmth only the harshness of nature that seems to be in sync with the emotions rolling through me. Fear, anger and hopelessness.

I sigh as I realize I have a decision to make. Either way it will end with my death. How it ends however is my choice. ITs terms or Mine.

I can stay and wait for IT to reach me and finally see ITs identity. And if IT gives me time perhaps ask why.

Or

I can take a leap of this cliff into the churning water below and end this fear, this chase, the run for my life. My own terms not ITs. This choice would be my victory over the evil.

I look behind me again and see IT getting closer. I can hear the chilling laugh of triumph. IT thinks it has me, I think not.

I make my decision. I jump.

The last thing I hear is ITs scream of rage. I feel satisfaction.

The last thing I think is that I'm finally at peace.  No more fear, no more anger, no more hopelessness.

The last thing I feel is falling.

I once heard the last thing an angel feels is falling. Perhaps I'm an angel....

Welcome to the blog

Hi there,

Welcome to the blog! I'm so excited to finally have set one up. On here I go by 'TheDreamer'

Lets see, a little info....

I wanted a place that I can share my thoughts, experiences and stories, so practically little bits of my life.

You might find a book recommendation, a book review, a picture or even a story that I have written just because I can and feel a little inspired :)

So cruise through and check out what I have and if you only want to say "Hi" then go on ahead, I'm always up for making new friends ;)

I welcome and encourage any all comments, however if you are rude and have nothing nice to say then please don't bother saying anything at all.

I think that covers it, till next time!

Over and Out,
TheDreamer
